It all started on Friday September 16th. I had just gotten home after getting a pedicure with a friend and running some errands when my water broke. I was only 38 weeks along and thought I had at least another week or so before the day would come, but Landen had other plans. Luckily I had our hospital bags packed and ready to go. Since it was a Friday afternoon Tyler was at work, so I drove myself to the hospital where Tyler met me. Within a few hours the rest of our immediate family showed up as well, and we successfully filled an entire waiting room.
Even though my water had broken I was not having regular contractions, so they had to induce labor. After 26 very long hours (and multiple threats of c-section by the nurses and doctors), Landen James was born on September 17th at 4:06 pm! He was 7 pounds 11 ounces and 20.5 inches long. It was love at first site for his exhausted parents and family! There was some concern for infection since my water had been broken for so long, but other than a low blood sugar (which resolved after feeding) he was perfectly healthy!

While we were in the hospital a professional photographer came by and offered to take newborn pictures for us with the sitting fee covered by the hospital. They turned out so great that we have hired her for his next set of pictures as well! We were originally told that we would have to stay for 48 hours of monitoring due to the prolonged labor, but because he had done so well overnight they let us go home the next day!
We were exhausted and swollen (maybe that one was just me), but so happy to have our little boy here and healthy!

Congrats guys! You should keep this blog going for him!
