When we first arrived home from the hospital he was diagnosed with jaundice and had to do phototherapy until his bilirubin levels returned to normal. They gave us the option of doing this in the hospital or at home, and since I take care of jaundiced babies all the time at work we opted for the home route. He was placed on a bilibed and could only be taken out to feed. It was so difficult not to be able to snuggle our baby who was only 72 hours old at this point, and to not be able to calm him by holding him. It took over two days, but his levels finally returned to a more normal level and we were able to take him out of the lights!
Since bringing Landen home we have been very well supported by all of our family and friends! We are so blessed to have such a close caring family, and Landen is very spoiled! We had constant live-in help provided by our moms for pretty much the first month of his life. This proved to be even more helpful than I could have imagined, because he was not supposed to go more than 3 hours between feeds due to his slow weight gain, so it allowed for us to get a little bit of sleep in those short intervals. Despite being only a few weeks old, Landen has earned himself quite the group of admirers (can you blame them?)! Following are some pictures from his first few weeks home.
The night we came home from the hospital, our friends Krystal (above), Jeff and Sammie (below) came by to meet Landen. A huge thank you to Jeff and Krystal for watching Kody and Maverick while we were in the hospital. It was such a relief to know they were happy and being well cared for!
Grandma Rose and Landen before his first at-home bath.
Zach came by to cuddle with Landen too!
My Grandparents were still in town after coming for the baby shower, so they made the trip over to see him when he was a couple of days old. I am so glad they were able to meet him before they had to head back to Illinois!
Mima (my mom) and Landen when he was a few days old.
Uncle Ty made a special trip and missed a day of school to meet his new nephew. Landen was still receiving the phototherapy for his jaundice at this point (hence the blue/green glow behind him).
Tyler's grandparents came to visit us at the hospital. Below is the four generation picture of Landen, Tyler, his dad Eric and Grandpa Chuck.

Auntie Bre already in love with Landen and we haven't even made it home from the hospital yet!

Brittani came to visit our first weekend home!

There was a quick peek at our first month home. It was a bit challenging, with the jaundice, slow weight gain and lack of sleep, but we are so in love with our little guy and wouldn't trade a second of it. I know I am getting a bit repetitive, but I mean it when I say that we feel so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. Landen is one lucky boy to be so loved! Thank you to everyone who helped us get through this first month, we love you and appreciate all of you!
