Hawaiian Vacation

For a while now we have been planning on taking a trip to Hawaii with our good friends, Jeff and Krystal. When we found out we were expecting, we put our planning into high gear and decided to get this trip checked off of our to-do list before we wouldn't be able to travel quite as easily! So, at the beginning of June, at 23-24 weeks along, we took off for a week long vacation to the beautiful island of Maui for our "babymoon"!

One of our favorite things to do while in Hawaii is watching the sunsets on the beach, there is nothing quite like it. Below are our friends Jeff and Krystal. We had such a wonderful time traveling with them!

Of course we had to get a picture of the little peanut enjoying his first Hawaiian sunset!

While we were in Hawaii we did a number of activities, including taking a trip to the Maui Ocean Center, sea kayaking, sight seeing, shopping, and of course relaxing on the beach!

Visiting the Maui Ocean Center brought out the animal lover in all of us. We went at just the right time and were able to watch them feed the sharks and other fish. It definitely made me miss scuba diving and seeing all of the sea life out in the ocean, but I will hopefully be back at it soon after the baby is born!

We also did a little sight seeing and went out to the Nakalele Blowhole near Kaanapali. It is one of our favorite spots on the island so we had to share it with Jeff and Krystal!

Jeff got a little too close to the crashing waves...

Such a beautiful place!

We also went into Lahaina for the King Kamehameha festival and walked around Banyan Tree Park.

Jeff and Krystal decided to drive the Road to Hana since they had never been to the island before. Tyler and I stayed back because we had done the drive on our honeymoon a few years ago. They had a great time even if they may have taken a wrong turn or two and ended up on the much more windy and treacherous "back road" to Hana ;-).

We also went out to a number of great restaurants while we were there including one of our favorite Mexican places. Even though I couldn't have a margarita, I made due with the next best thing!

You can't help but have a good time at Fred's and Moose McGillicudy's!

We went to the Maui swap meet and the guys had to get their coconuts! It was a great place to find discounted souvenirs!

We felt a little adventurous and decided to go ocean kayaking to search for sea turtles. While we didn't see any turtles we did find a couple of great reefs to look at and rode a few rogue waves :-).

Although we did a lot of different activities, our favorite way to start each day was with a trip to the beach. The weather was beautiful and sunny every day we were there with temperatures around 85, we really lucked out!
Tyler and Jeff even tried their hand at body boarding, which was quite entertaining to watch!

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Hawaii! Thank you again to Jeff and Krystal for traveling with us and a huge thank you to Dick and Barbara for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home!
